During the development of the course Pop Up Islands: Architectures
that appear and disappear it was counted on the participation of 3
universities with a simultaneous active collaboration, different times
of incorporation and leaving were taken into account, counting a total
of 25 working weeks, about 175 days of coordination among teaching
teams. For the efficient and appropriate participation of the 3
universities (ETSAM-Spain / MINAS-Brazil / Xanthi-Greece) a strategic
plan was designed from Madrid in order to incorporate foreign
universities gradually. The aim was to involve students and teachers
positively, 2 workshops were carried out, one of them in Greece
(January 2013) and the other in Brazil (March 2013), teachers from
Madrid took part in both of them. The course was divided in 3
development phases (protococuments, layers and redrawn) allowing a
coordinated work between students regardless their physical location,
language or time difference. This, helped in a certain instrumental
freedom as well as different assessments at the universities. Finally,
the students from Madrid had extra intellectual inputs through the
weekly Educational Innovation Project (PIE) titled “Aproximaciones
Periféricas” (“Peripheral Approaches”).
