Within a work context where projects are developed in faraway
places, teaming with strangers of different nationalities, of different
mentality, different viewpoint, different work habits, different
timetable, different language, different tools, different conditions,
different implication… the negotiation process is opened. Each part
puts their cards on the table: their preferences, their priorities,
minimums demanded, unavoidable requirements, limits of his
flexibility…
Once visualized the video presentations of each student of the ETSAM
by Brazilian and Greek students, the first international contacts
between the students were established, resulting the formation of teams
in based on affinities generated on their first work and the talks were
derived from it. That incipient working relationship must be formalized
from the first time through a contract.
In A5 size the students coordinate, write and legalize (with their
own signatures) which one is going to be the whole work plan: which are
going to be the relation parameter, the organization and the
distribution of the work, the frequency and the channels of contact,
the documents that each is going to show or make, the relation and
attention with each teacher, the intensity, the limits, the software,
the devices….
The contract establishes the compromise of each student with the team,
and their limits. In fact, it is the path that defines the procedures
that they are going to follow to reach the desired architectural
results for each member of the team.
It is a document that must be closed before proceeding with any work
and which allows to take advantage of the collaboration, optimize
resources, and commit oneself with the project.
The contract is, in short, another tool of the project. It
constitutes another of their documents.
