The evolution of motion in videogames has allowed to go through the fourth wall -the screen-, connecting quickly architecture from both realities. Currently, the amount of bridges which link both realities -the physical one and the alternative one- are rising. Wii, navigators, apps for iPhone... Reality won't be back again within the exclusive contxt of nature: it is an augmented reality (RA) artificially.
How does this new dimension affect to the city?
Information which is dumped from alternative reality into the traditional one is more and more precise. The European global navigation satellite system GALILEO -starting in 2014- will get a better precision than the GPS, allowing to apply it to the architecture field. The alternative reality gives to the city a new medium able to change traditional habits of citizens. Will be traditional signposts replaced by visual data provided automatically by our cell phone?
It is paradoxal that most of researches on AR are done in the context of videogames. The term playability is referred to the accesibility and capacity of enjoying a videogame considering its graphics, quality of motion or the interaction with characters. Sketchily, it means all those elements which allow the player to enjoy.
What does AR mean for the playability in the city?
