PREREQUISITES
Basic knowledge of physics and mathematics. (E.g.Logarithms.)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE SUBJECT
This course is a brief introduction to optical communication systems. These systems are described, focusing on lasers, photodetectors, fibers, and design budgets. The aim is qualifying students to design simple optical systems.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this course are to provide the basic concepts related to the optical communication. Students should be able to design a whole system and to have an overview of the different optical devices involved.
